Where Should I Stay in London?.
It is easy to find a suitable accommodation in the largest and busiest metropolitan area in England - with hundreds of options to choose from, it all depends on your purpose for travelling and your budget. Whilst it would be advantageous to stay in central London with a number of attractions within walking distance, hotel prices tend to run on the steep side in this area. Accommodation in London is generally more expensive than the other districts so if you don't mind the extra travel time and would want to save on your hotel cost then consider other districts, such as Paddington or Westminster. You can also do some research on safe and reasonably-priced B&Bs or hostels. But if you want to know some of the most recommended and highly-regarded accommodations in London, here is a quick guide:
The Ritz London (Piccadilly, London).
If you have the money to spend, you can never go wrong with this luxury 5-star hotel that has been a favorite haunt by celebrities and personalities all over the world. Not only can guests bask in its Old World elegance, most of London's major attractions are either a stone's throw or just a stroll away - The Royal Opera House, Buckingham Palace, V&A Museum, the Tate Modern and many more.
Claridge's (Brook Street).
Rated by Frommer's and Gayot as "one of the best hotels in London," and by Conde Nast Traveller as the "Best UK Hotel for rooms" in 2010, this hotel has successfully combined all the right elements for over a century - impressive Art Deco interiors, a Michelin-starred restaurant (run by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay) and dedicated service fit for royalty.
Andaz (Liverpool Street). Part of the Hyatt chain of hotels, this 5-star hotel is a favorite amongst business travellers. Situated right in the financial district, Andaz is also easily accessible from the airports and to the city centre. Unwind after a hectic day of meeting in any of the five restaurants and bars.
The Soho (Richmond Mews).
The first thing that will greet you when you walk into this trendy boutique hotel is the large, 10-foot-high Botero cat sculpture, and you know you are in London's hip and cool area. Aside from all the nearby attractions (Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Palladium Theatre), there's the comfortable and spacious rooms plus the friendly staff to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible (they're even known to slip in a surprise and thoughtful treats for guests!).
The Savoy (The Strand).
Newly-renovated, the "Grand Dame" of London hotels proves what it takes to stay on top of its game with the creative innovations it has put in place: "personality" suites done to honor famous guests like Frank Sinatra and Maria Callas, "Green Butlers" who advise guests about environment-friendly events around London. What is consistent though is its time-honored tradition of world-class service.
